Last game of the Calendar Year Preview!!!
In 820 action, Manny's Hockey Shop is up against MSCCC. Manny's is led by strong defense and goal tending. Derek Signoriello believes in keeping the score close and using speed from the defense up. With the versatility of his players, meaning many can play both forward and defense, it allows the team make changes as needed for the competition. In a similar vane, Gary Oulette has also built his team to be strong on the defensive side and goal tending, but less versatile with players up front being more specialized at their positions. This will be a heck of a duel as we predict a low scoring battle.
Vescera Law will be trying their luck against Green Goddess. Bill Vescera's team is built for speed and brick wall goaltending. This reporter believes they need to take more chances and spread the puck around to be successful. Green Goddess has a high powered offense and needs to be careful with how they balance their offense. Welcome to chemistry 101 as we all know Richie Dias and Shane McCormick are tandem goal scorers. With Derek Franco out, the skates are tough to fill to climb back into the standings for Eric Robichaud and his Green Dream Team.
The game that has the most interest for the league is Final Touch vs. Manville Pizza. Both teams have ligit strong spots. Final Touch is coming back from a bye and a long west coast trip getting them 4 out of 6 points at the 10:40 spot, they hope to get over on their biggest rival. Manville Pizza on the other hand is piecing its team together every week until they find a replacement for an A player. Dan Dussault has done a fine job keeping his team at the top of the standings. In fact both teams are so closely matched the stats are virtually identical. Goals for and against have the same differential, they are tied in points with Manville winning one more game than Final Touch. Last time these two teams met it was a 4-2 win for Manville. With both teams having solid and balanced defenses as well as prolific goal scorers up front, this game will have a playoff like atmosphere.
Roman Law is on the bye and will be watching this game closely as they are on the brink of the top spot.
I hope all of you had a very Merry Christmas!
See you at the rink!
