Game 1, Night 1 of the Championship series Winter 2020

October 17, 2020

North Smithfield, RI - The Matty Chronicles - Championship Edition Game 1, Night 1

The first match up on the road to the ship, was Manny's and Final Touch. It was Final Touch that came to play last night. Manny's would get the first goal with Shooter, Mark Dionne lighting the lamp, rebounding Gary Orr Ouilettes shot. The lead lasted exactly 10 seconds. Bill Figueredo would tie it up from Rich Dias. Final Touch would stab Manny's in the heart with 2 more goals. One goal from Peter Meegan and the other from a team of players, ending with Chris Bach finishing it off. JW Preston would right the ship for Manny's before the end of the period. It cut the lead from 2 goals to 1. A speech between periods by Captain Derek Signoriello, got Manny's to start acting like the team they are, scoring 3 unanswered goals, by Gary Ouilette, Jimmy Meegan and Tommy Gaboriault. In the third, Final Touch would not give up, Figueredo would get another goal early in the third, set up by Mark Kosinski in the slot. It was Manny's pulling it out with Tommy G, capping off the game. 6-4 and moving on to Vescera Law tomorrow.

The middle game had a lot of excitement and even a smattering of fans. Green Goddess against Votta Properties in game 2. Green Goddess came out of the locker rooms and off the bench like they were shot out of a cannon. Goddess a goal in the first shift by Adam Babikian, from Steven Albertelli and Neil Foley. Then next goal would be Babikian again from Foley. Not so fast, with the clock winding down, Votta would get on the board, with Jarred Martin ringing the bell. On to the second and Votta was the one off the bench early and scored in 14 seconds, My boo would do the damage to tie the game. Nate Arruda would get the next one for the lead. Jarred Martin would get the next one, and Votta would not look back. Steven Albertelli would stop the bleeding for Green Goddess, making it 4-3. Early in the third, Votta would put the stamp on this one. Ricky Votta himself would put the puck in the net and Nate Arruda would finish it off. Votta is in for tomorrow versus the evil empire.

In the final game of the evening, the Law was laying down the Law. Wait, What? Yep, it was Vescera Law and Roman Law fighting for the final position in the semi's. Unfortunately, Roman Law had a tough time figuring out Mike Baro in net. On the other side, little Robbie Edleman did all the damage. Edleman in the first, less than a minute, took the pass Daniel Clare. 3 shifts later, it would be Edleman again from Jay Arruda. In the second, Edleman again from Dan Clare. Late in the second Roman would crack the egg. Glen Medeiros would figure out Baro. It would not be enough. Vescera will be heading to the second night versus Manny's.

So the games are set for tonight. Hope you all are ready.

Live, Breathe, Love..............................................HOCKEY!!!! Good luck everyone.
