Heating up, down the stretch. Still chilly outside.
It is the tail end of one of the most interesting season of recent memory. Never before have the captains been so tested in their endeavors. Normal years are difficult enough, but with a pandemic, it is 10 fold more of a challenge. Great job captains. We thank you for your continued effort.
All three games were tight, as the season winds down. Quick Dam and Green Goddess got the evenings games started. Quick Dam got a fast start with Neil Yee getting on the board, set up by Paul Bergeron. Middle of the first, Goddess came roaring back with Andy Morrison connecting with Tim Pincince for the goal. The two teams skated to a 1-1 tie through the second. Green Goddess got the next goal to break up the tie in the early goings of the third. 2 shifts later, Kevin Webster for Quick Dam would get the stretch pass from Sean Coffey, breaking away and putting the puck in with a back hand, top shelf to tie it up once again. Late in the period, using a power play, Goddess would take the lead once again. Andy Morrison swam across the crease, with help from Tim Pincince and Gary Ouilette. Less than a minute went by before, Goddess would strike again, Nick Merander, filling in would get the goal, with help from Pincince and Morrison. It was like those two were in on every play, or like they were on the ice for a lot of the time. hmm. Quick Dam would not go away, Yee would make the Goddess sweat late in the game, with help from Derek Franco rushing the puck from the blue line. A pulled goalie and some penalties made the end even more interesting. In the end, Goddess got the win. 4-3.
In game two, the Doctor was in against Vecsera Law. The Edge took the edge early with a goal by Adam Babikian, set up by Steve Manning. Early in the second Rob Edelman would get the Law on the board, tying things up. Rich Laplant killed that momentum with help from Babikian. Eric Campbell would stretch the lead for Edge Doctor. Early in the third Glen Marshall, on a hot streak, put one in the net with Manning helping. A few minutes later, Greg Landry would arrest the Doctors momentum with Dan Clare on the assist. Kevin Tondreau would help the cause less than a minute later, as the crawled back. It would not be enough. The Edge Doctor would hold on for the Win 4-3.
Late in the game, as the spectators were looking on, Votta Properties and Manville Pizza would round out the games for the evening. Votta got out to the early lead, getting 4 in the first. Eric Rondeau took the puck to the net from Neil Foley and Jarred Martin. Shane McCormick would get the next one on a break away and finished. He would end the period, or close to it with another one from Kreg Labelle and Brian Roman. Literally with a last second effort, Neil Foley would tip it in from Romans shot, 4-0 Votta. Way too much game left for Pizza to fold. Richie Dias (Happy Birthday Buddy) would put the empire on the board, with Mark Kosinski on the assist. later Kosinski would steal the puck and put it in the net. Kosinski would lug the team with him again and make it 4-3 with help from Mike Bragan. In the third, Votta would close out the scoring with Jarred Martin putting a stamp on this one. 5-3. Votta wins and takes hold of the number one spot.
