In Like a Lion
An old saying goes, March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb. My research, like 2 seconds on google, seems to suggest a 17th century saying. Comes from most climates having winter weather at the beginning of March and spring weather at the end of March. This is certainly true in New England, for the most part.
This is not true with Friday night NRIAHL hockey. It is in like a lion and out like a lion or grizzly. "Lions and tigers and bears, oh my".
Final Touch faced Manville PP in the early game. Manville would come out onto the ice like a lion and score 1:30 in to the game. Steve Manning would take the feed from Scott Hawes (watch French Hawes Beer tasting on Youtube. Top 30 beer shows on Youtube). The lead wouldn't last as Richie Dias would pop the biscuit in the basket from Mark Ferreira and Andy Meegan. Before the first would end, Final Touch would get the game winner from Kevin Webster. Final would get three more in the second to put the game away. Actually Jay Cinq-Mars would put the game away from Barry Horton. Final Touch Wins 5-1
The second game is the one everyone was waiting for. The same reason folks go to Seekonk Speedway. Just to see a wreck. They want to see Manny's fall. Well they almost got there wish. In the first the two sides skated to a 0-0 tie. This was a battle between Dan Albertelli on one end between the pipes and Mike Baro nearly 200 feet away holding against the other plumbing. It would take just 16 seconds into the second, when little Robbie Edleman or Robbiecakes would score and break the game open. Paul Praderio would pull the puck out of the corner to feed Rob who would put the masse on the puck and it crawled over Baro and into the net. Nearly 3 minutes later as the battle continued, Anthony Lisi would put the team on his back and pop a rebound past Albertelli. Later in the third, it could be heard "That's what i'm talking about BOO" ring through the arena. Yep Ralphie Espilat would get the game winner for Manny's. That's a gamer boys. Hurts his own team standings, but played like it was his team. Atta Boy. Manny's wins 2-1.
Hey, what the heck is that smell. Do you smell that, sniff sniff? It smells like the Barn Is Burning!!! Yep that is what you had in the third game. Derek Green Pants Franco would start the scoring in the first period, fed by Shawn Smith. Green Goddess would not let that lead stand long as they would get the equalizer 5 minutes later. That wouldn't last either, took the next face off or shift to bring the lead back for RED as Peter Meegan would use the Marksman to get a goal with brother Jimmy getting the puck to him. Green would get back the tie and go ahead early in the second with Shane McCormick fed by Eric Robichaud. Roman would impose their will and score 2 more before the end of the second Brian roman putting the Law, his name sake ahead before the period would end. Green Goddess would blow open up the third and tie it up again. This would not last either as just 30 seconds as Roman would take it over again. Pete Meegan extend the lead a shift later. Goddess would scratch back with one more from Shane. It would not be enough as one from Green pants would do it. How ironic green pants against green goddess, wearing Red? Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas........... Roman Wins 7-5
With Manny's winning they get a little breathing room. Votta remained stagnant with a by this week. Roman keeps up by winning and staying just 2 games back of the Gold and Royal. With the loss by Vescera to Manny's their hopes are dashed for the Friday night by. They can only match Manny's points and Manny's would have the tie breaker. So the presidents cup is still up in the air between Manny's, Roman Law and Votta Properties. Votta has the least desirable schedule compared to Manny's and Roman. Who knows what could happen.
I hope everyone has fun shoveling today.
Remember when you were young and your heart was an open book. People said live and let live............
