Sweatin out the gravy! Post Thanksgiving Skate Spectacular
Although it is quite a lot of work, hosting thanksgiving for the family, is very rewarding when you get the leftovers. Plus, you don't have to drive anywhere. It is quite convenient in that way. It was a very nice week off as well. Thanks for the well wishes for my birthday. Double Nickels this year. I am an old bastard. What a night of hockey though. A couple of low scoring ties. That was interesting. Also, family ice time for the Smith's. That was really cool. The biggest problem last night was the cold. One week your in a tee shirt playing kan jam, this week you are looking for a hat and gloves out of your trunk. WTF.
Ok here we go, onto the games. Edge Doctor and Quick Dam. Have you noticed the newer uni's are much nicer than the rag tag jerseys this league was built on. In the beginning of the game, First period belonged to Edge Doctor. Scoring twice on about 20 shots. Mark Schaivone stood on his head. The two goals were scored by Nick Miranda from Andy Morrison. The second was Nick Nardone coming down the pike. Second, period Larry Lefevbre cycling to the point shot a missile past junior who was unscathed in the first. Mike Dussault settled in and kept the net clean the rest of the period. Although, if you have live barn, check out 8:49 of the second for the unconventional save. Edge Doctor answered that goal with 4 of their own. Stared with Ben Mello from Nick Nardone and Brian McDonald. A breakaway by Andy, resulting in an Adam Babikian goal. Brian would get the next one and then the final one Nick Nardone again, from Nick Miranda. In the third, the big comeback by Quick Dam. Does he or doesn't he have Mikes number. I mean Larry. Larry would score again. Speaking of Numbers, Junior got his number back. I think we know what we need to do now. The last goal of the night was scored by Mila Smith from her dad and Neil Yee. It was nice to have her score. Not enough though. 6-3 Edge Doctor.
In Game 2 both teams scored in each period. Quite the emotional roller coaster. In the first, Manville Pizza got off to the better start with a goal by Ryan Degnan from Frank Nardone. Wait, Frank is all over the ice. Damn. Warrior. Late in the first Votta would tie the score, as I said in the spoiler opening statement. Richie Dias would get on the board. In the second period, Deja Vu all over again, Frank Nardone would get the Pizza the lead early in the period. However, late in the second, number 8 is truly great, Kreg Labelle gets the tying goal. In the third, not early but more midway, Pizza would again get up on the property. Mark White Gloves Kosinski would seem to be the hero. But with just 7 seconds left in the game. I mean effing 7 seconds. WTF Richie Dias would set someone wearing 6 up for the goal. 7 Seconds. I don't mean to sound like I am rooting for either side, but that had to be a kick in the nads for Pizza. Tie game 3-3.
There is a note for help on this last score sheet. Now, I would call dcyf if it were not for the fact, that I believe in a little bullying and verbal abuse. It is a good tactic to assert dominance and respect over your children. And if it is your grand children, even better. Apparently, Ben is reaching out for help. It says on the sheet "I am being battered, and assaulted by Peppere. And Peppere is bullying me. I guess I shouldn't laugh, but it's funny. Anyway, back to the scoring or lack of scoring in this last game. Green Goddess versus Final Touch. Couple of stellar goalies in this one, Mike Baro for Final Touch and Brian Glaud for Green Goddess. So, Green Goddess got on the board first Gary Ouilette got on the board. In the third, Derek Anderson or possibly Ralphie got on the board. Not sure, either way Aimee set up the goal. And that was it. That was the whole game. Must have been exciting.
Ok boys and girls. I'm proud of you. Have a wonderful week. Get those xmas decorations up.
