Another night of Hockey and good friends

March 6, 2021

Here is the story of a small town hockey rink with a large heart.

After the wait for the HS ladies teams were done with their game, the NRI hockey League got started. The first game started a bit late, but Green Goddess got going early. Just a minute and half in, Andy Morrison started his epic night. A beautiful shot pass by Rick Vasconcelos and finish by Morrison got the Goddess started. The teams skated back and forth with the goalies making the difference. Mark Schaivone had more than one highlight reel saves for Quick Dam. Mark Clarkin unleashed his inner Clarkin Crakin? Either way stellar performances by both. That said, Morrison did have the key to the Schaivone puzzle. In the mid second, Morrison with Tim Pincine would get the helper with Shooter Marc Dionne making the feed. Finally late in the third, Shawn Smith would get the Dam on the board with help from Derek Franco. Yep, Andy did it again late in the second from Pincine and put the team on his back with a hatty. In the third, Derek Franco would get a goal to put the Dam close again. Unfortunately, Derek Greenpants Franco would not last the game. A shoulder injury took him out. Yours truly put one on the tee for Andy Morrison to get the feather on the hatty. It would have been great if I was on his team. So, not apple, just shame. In the end, Goddess wins 4-2.

In game 2 of the evening, The Unknowns were making themselves known. And their Numbers were a mess but I got er figured out thanks to MR. D. in the first, just 25 seconds in (is that right?) Anthony Lisi started the fire from Brian Pendergast. Damn good start for Dr. Dereks team. Later in the first, Peter Meegan in a helper role scored with Adam Babikian being a giver and fed by Rich Laplant. But wait theres more. In the second it was all Vescera Law. Little Robbie Edelman would put the biscuit in the basket, from Dan Clare. Later in the period, Kevin Scheicher would tie the game, and Robbie and LT. Dan would get the helpers. In the third, a breakdown in defensive coverage would spring Ant Lisi. Lisi would take off on the breakaway and beat Shannon Murphy five hole. It was the spark that lit them up. Next two goals would be Adam Babikian putting the exclamation point on the game and finishing with 3 points of his own. In the end, the Unknowns grab a win 5-2.

As the evening waned, Votta and Manville took the ice. Midway through the first Votta got on the board. Shane McShane Shane McCormick took off and finished with the help of Brian Roman. Later in the period, Kreg Labelle would get the game winner from Eric Rondo.  Yep, the game winner in the first. But lets keep going. In the second, it was deja vu all over again. Shane would score from Brian Roman's pass and Kreg Labelle would get one late in the period. On to the third. Is this getting boring? Shane got another one, sprung this time by you guessed it............wrong. EHHH this time OWEN Neil Foley would feed Shane. Late, and I mean Late in the third, Manville Pizza would get on the board. Mark Kosinski would be the man of the last minute to take away the shut out for Frank Zabatta.
