Cold as a witches heart out there.
It always seems to amaze me. We are in a cold rink, drinking cold beverages after the game. Yet, we still complain about the cold weather. Very much a congruent of perspective. It was effing cold though. I actually got home at a decent hour. Even with the early game. The nice thing about the weather, my kids (adult kids) got out on the pond. (and fell in and got wet) Bernon park, not going to drown there. If you know, you know. This also the time of the year when everyone goes skiing. I want to go, but its cold. Lol Lets get into the games last night. The first one was crazy. A three ring circus. I am going to leave that out for now.
Edge Doctor and Vescera went at it. Edge Doctor found themselves in a precarious position. In the first, right at the beginning, Steve Lombardi on a breakaway, got himself the first of many. Early in the second, Edge Doctor tied it up. A goal by Nick Nardone with Adam Babikian on the helper. Although this teeter on the totter would not last. Vescera would get it back with a tic tac toe goal by Lombardi and Peter Meegan. Mid Second, Rafi Manzo would twist yours truly and backhand the puck in the top tier. If you are counting, thats 3-1. Steve Lombardi got another one with Shane and Billy on the helpers. 30 seconds later Shane would love to join the fun and then he did. Yep, now that would make it 5-1 at the end of the second. Now if we only played 2 periods, that is all the action you would get and probably need. Yet, the Edge didn't give up. Kevin Keenan brought the team back to life with a rogue defense to offense move. He was helped by Andy Morrison and Frank Nardone. It is like a fuse was lit, Nick Nardone would make it 3-5, from Ben Mello and Nick Miranda. Nick got the next one. Yikes my friends, this is getting interesting. But wait there is more. Andy Morrison would get the most exciting goal of all, tying it up with 7 minutes on the clock. And then i got hairy. Unfortunately, with just 14 seconds left, Lombardi does what Lombardi does and got the late gwg. 6-5 in an exciting match up. Someone needs a new pair of shorts. Vescera with the win.
In game 2, another crazy game. Final Touch vs. Manville Pizza. Final Touch would light the lamp first. You know who, Derek Anderson that is who. He had help with route 66. Not sure who that was, but Derek says thanks for the pass. Late in the first, Manville would come back and tie it up. Yep, Paul Praderio getting this one without help. In the second, Final Touch, would pull ahead early. And it was Anderson again, this time his helper was Bobby Killah Watts. Killah and Sandy make a good combo. Like a weird Grease reunion. Moving on. Pizza would rise again. Putting the pepperoni on the cheese. This time, ole white gloves, Mark Kosinski would get it done, Jay Cinq Mars on the helper. Final Touch's captain, said no no no no no. Shannon Caverly got a goal to go ahead. You know who was involved, Sandy and Killah. Late in the 2, Glen Marshall would be driven to the net by Aimee Accinno (the rink mafia) and Glen Medeiros. And then there was the third. MPP yeah you know me, owned the third. 2 goals by Ryan Degnan, the one to start the period with help from Kos and Cinq Mars, Huh that rhymes. Praderio would set up goal 4 to tie the game. And then there was Degnan's second and the GWG. Yep, Kos and Cinq Mars on the helpers. At the end, it was Kos, with the capper. 6-4 Manville Pizza.
Ok this game was probably super exciting. Judging from the scores and when they happened. Right off the drop of the puck, Votta came down and scored. Of course it was Kreg Labelle. He was helped by Al Whitton and Big Sexy Ricky Votta. Late in the period, Sammy Woodward would put the puck in the twine to go up 2-0, Richie Dias on the helper. In the second, Deja Vu all over again. Kreg from the faceoff, down the ice from Sammy and Whitton. Literally the same goal and time as the first. Weird right? Any who. Quick Dam would finally break the bubble. Break the bubble, break it up. Pour some sugar on me. Larry Lefebvre would make his presents known, popping the corn. With Jimmy Meegan and Derek Franco. Votta would get another one to make it 4-1. This one would be My Man Ray Iannuccillo on the back breaker. But remember it is only the second period. 15 seconds left in the second, Quick Dam would cut the lead in half. Derek Franco would get the fire lit. Rick Mercuri and Shawn Smith on the helpers. In the third, Derek another Derek, D2 I believe, Derek Antunes would make the purple sweat with his goal. This one from Shawn and Ray. With 4 minutes left in the perios, Neil Yee would tie it up. With help from Larry. 4-4 tie. Kinda sucks to go to the prom and find out well, I will just leave it right there.
