Emporer rising...

May 10, 2018

Good evening, and welcome to the 1st (and long overdue) update to the league website...

Opening night... what to say about opening night...  Well, nothing about Roman Law, they sat out week one awaiting the return of Capt Shawn Smith...  In opening night action; Green Goddess takes on Roman Law, and what a start we had! A goaltending duel... after leading for the better part of 2 periods after being staked to a 1-0 lead by Nate Arruda and the brilliant play of goalie Mike Baro, Vescera's boys would settle for a tie after being kept off the board for the remainder by the equally outstanding play of Mark Schiavone, and some late game heroics by Goggles himself, Bobby Jordan, putting home the big 3rd period goal to salvage a point!  Great way to start the season.  In game 2; defending champion captain Derek Signoriello took on the rebuilt Vota properties...  a back and forth game throughout, trading goals and saves, but a little more offense than the 1st game, ending in a 6-6 tie Brian Pendergast celebrated his return with 2 goals and an assist, and Gary Ouilette would tack on a pair himself, including the goal to tie it up. Robbiecakes Edelman and Stephen Albertelli would pace Capt Vota's team with a goal and apple each.  In the headline game of the night (based completely on the game time and not the anticipation nor matchup), the leagues early favorites, Final Touch, would take on the evil empire itself, Manville Pizza.  What happened to the pizza?  Was the oven not pre-heated? Did the cheese go bad? Does it matter?  Final Touch made quick work of the pie.  Jimmy Meegan would pace Touch with 2 goals and an assist, Ray Iannuccillo would pot a pair as well, pacing the team to a 6-2 win.  Pizza Capt Dan Dussault would score a pair for the pie in the losing effort.

WEEK 2?!?! Has anyone seen the score sheets from week 2?  I guess nothing worth talking about happened in week 2, except another Pizza loss, I know my readers love that stuff...

Week 2 you say? Well The Goddess fell to Roman Law. The Law picked up a great win with goaltending and defense. Sean Smith, Captains this team and showed the way with a goal and 2 assists. being part of all 3 goals. Goddess could not get their act together and didn't score until the third. But The law stopped there comeback.

Manny's came out fast with just 15 seconds in to the game, Manny's lit the lamp. Manville would get the next one and it would ping pong back and forth with Manny's winning the first in the end 3-2. Manny's would get the next one in the middle of the second, but Manville would put the ring ding on the shelf and nip at the golds heels. Tommy G would light the lamp off the drop in the final go round and stay ahead. Manville would not give up and put one home to nip at the heels again. Manny's held the Black and red off and won the game.

The new look Vescera Law is having a ball. Although, Votta Properties felt they were the belles. They would start the scoring 5 minutes in the first. The way to stop momentum is to steal it back by getting the next one. Vescera did just that within the next shift the White would tie it up. Votta would once again take the lead early in the third, but the pesky Law would again match them 2 shifts later. In the third, the Vescera would take the law into their own hands and pop 2 past Votta for the win.

****NOTE-Matty C on ICE- Has caught you up*****second week anyway

I'll catch up with the scoresheets... those of you clamoring for updates though, please be sure you are to date on payment before asking me about them!  I'd continue, but I have to get to the rink, it's almost time to fall another week behind.

For the record, the standings were actually correct (wins and losses only), however, someone took it upon themselves to make changes...
