First Game of 20/21 winter is in the books
Oh what a night..... A late October Snow storm and a wicked chill in the air welcomed the Winter season. Gina welcomed us with a stop play decree for next week. This was not great news for us. We hope this is just one week as she had said.
Anyway, back to the games. Vescera Law came out to defend their title for the cup against Votta Properties. Votta got up early on Vescera, midway through the first. Vescera would tie it up with Rob Edleman scoring. Vescera would go ahead with another goal a few minutes later. The purple would not have it and tied it up a minute later. Votta would get another late goal to take the lead and not look back. Two early goals in the third and they would hang on to win 6-3 to start the season.
In the second game, Quick Dam, the newest sponsor of the league donned the orange jersey to illuminate the league against the evil empire Manville Pizza. Pizza would rise early and get a goal by Keith Krunelis in the early going. In the second MPP would get another with 2 on one breakaway. The unselfish Richie Dias would dish to Keith, who buried the puck in the net. Quick Dam would not lose faith and finally figured it out in the third cracking the egg was Pete Meegan subbing in to get the tally. Manville would answer with Kosinski beating the goalie short side. Quick Dam would score again, with Webby and Smith combining for a goal, but that is all they could muster. In the end Manville Palace Pizza would get the win 3-2.
And now the Game of the night. The rookie captain Shannon Caverly would be pitted against her mentor, Derek Signoriello and Manny's Hockey shop. This one was a rock fight. The new guy Chris something Pilot, would get two goals in the first to get Final Touch off and running. Adam Babikian would cut the lead in half for Manny's midway through. Late in the first Final Touch would score again. In the second Babikian would strike again, baby babikian that is not pupah, to make it 3-2. According to the score sheet, Babikian would complete the hatty, however, we believe it was actually Derek Antunes who got their third. to tie things up. Later in the third Final Touch would go ahead again. On to the third, where Anthony Lisi for Manny's, would open the scoring early to tie things up again. Pilot would fly in to complete his hat trick. and get the lead back for FT. Back and forth they go with Eric Campbell introducing himself to his new team, Manny's tied it up again. But wait there's more, Lisi would score again and actually get the lead for Manny's. They love playing from behind don't they. Manny's, Derek Antunes would get put the puck where momma don't dust, pulling Manny's ahead by two. Final Touch would not be done yet. Captain Shannon to the rescue. Shannon would put the loose change in behind Pires to get inches closer. Two minutes later Final touch would tally another to tie it up. This time for good. Wow what a game. 7-7. Good job Shannon picking your team and wearing the captains number. Right Richie. Number 9, number 9, number 9.
Next week, sadly, we are not playing thanks to our governor. WE MUST COMPLY! KNOCK IT OFF! Hopefully this will just be one week as was her plan. Pray to whomever you need to on this one that we are back.
Note to the Captains, get me your player numbers please so they get credit for their points.
Hope you all have a great week. Happy Halloween.
