Friday Night at the Old Barn

July 28, 2014

As dusk turned to night, Roman Law met up against Manville Pizza in the 8:20 contest. The Law would be dominant in the first period scoring 2 goals and looking comfortable against the competition. By the end of the second, Roman Law would be up by a goal and in the driver seat. In the third, Rich Dias settled in, as a stand in, for the Emperor in net. He would not let up another goal, allowing Manville to tear it up and so they did. Apparently the late night delivery doesn’t start until the third period when Pizza would serve up 5 goals to put a stamp on this one. Rob Edleman would get 5 points on 4 goals and an assist to lead the scoring. Final score Manville 7, Roman Law 3.

In the second stanza, Vescera Law met up against Manny’s Hockey Shop. Vescera has been looking to move up in the standings and get themselves ready for the playoffs. Out of the gate, the Manny’s squad was flat footed and Vescera pounced on the opportunity, scoring 3 unanswered in the first. Undaunted, Manny’s scored quickly in the first few minutes of the second. Steve Sullivan would take the biscuit to the basket, willing a comeback. Later Vescera would answer with a goal late in the middle period. The never say die attitude was never more prevalent in the next goal by Mike Strayer. Strayer, would not be denied and was the epitome of the phrase ‘crash the net’. Again, Vescera would get the eraser goal, just a few shifts later. This would make it 5-3 going into the third. Gary Ouillette would lead the Law in the scoring with 2 goals and an assist. Manny’s put out their best effort in the third, they couldn’t get past the 1-4 defense and Dave McDonald in net. Law Wins: 6-3

Apparently, 401 Consultants wanted everyone to know who the ‘Presidents’ trophy goes to, with a dismantling of their opponent Final Touch. This one was out of reach by the end of the second. One name was on everyone’s lips. Mark Ferreira had 5 goals and 2 assists to lead the consultants to a victory. Not to be unsung, but maybe the real hero was Tommy Gaboriault, serving up the assists and getting a couple of goals himself. We also cannot forget the net minder Rob Schiavone for keeping the puck out, giving up only one goal.  Clearly 401 is the team to beat this season, 9-1 winners.

I assume everyone is paid up now! If not tssk tssk !! pay up! Please!!

See you all at the rink on Friday. OH AND KEEP IN MIND, IT IS SUMMER AND EVERY FRIDAY IS GRILL NIGHT UNLESS IT RAINS. So, bring some food and if you have a grill bring it too.
